BINTANG Biru Assumption Football Academy emerged as the winners of the Penang KickersSportsUnite Samba Bola 7-Aside Unity Football Carnival recently.

The team, coached by S. Sundram and Roslan Aziz, defeated Kedah’s Puteri Jaya Kids Soccer team 2-0 in the Under-12 final for the Datuk Shukor Salleh Cup.

Both sides played to a 0-0 draw at full time, and in a three-kick penalty shoot-out, Bintang Biru’s goalkeeper Mohd Iqbal Azman saved the first two kicks while his teammates converted.

Assumption FC president Sundram, who has been helming the club for over 30 years, said it was a back-to-back success for his charges after having won the Royal Selangor Club Milo Under12 International Football Sevens title last month.

“We are proud that some of our boys, including S. Kumaahran, Muhammad Jafri Firdaus Chew and Syafiq Ahmad represented the country at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.”

Sundram said his club train about 200 to 250 players (between the ages of eight and 16) at the public field beside SK St Marks in Butterworth during weekends. K. Kandiah
