KAJANG: Students of higher learning institutions can now apply for a concession card that entitles them to a 50 per cent discount on rail and bus rides, Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said yesterday.

“This people-centric programme offers privileges to undergraduates to benefit from and enjoy the world-class infrastructures that the government has put in place.

“This will encourage more students, who commute between their home and higher learning institutions, to take advantage of public transportation,” said Idris at the launch of the concession card at the Stadium Kajang MRT station.

He said the privileges also applied to those studying at polytechnics and community colleges.

The discount is applicable with RapidKL Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail Transit, Monorail, and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) lines.

“I urge students to make use of these facilities as this will promote a greener lifestyle,” he said.

As part of the launch ceremony, Idris boarded the MRT from the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Station to demonstrate the convenience of public transport services.

He presented concession cards to higher learning institutions students who boarded the train with him from the TRX MRT station and alighted at the Stadium Kajang MRT station.
