Workshops hogging bays

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Workshops using public parking spaces to accommodate vehicles awaiting repairs at Spring Court in Taman Mas Sepang here are causing problems for residents due to insufficient parking lots.

A frustrated resident, who goes by the name Moli, said more than 15 parking spots had been taken up by the workshops.

“The workshops have selfishly used the public parking spots to keep the vehicles pending repairs. Some residents have fought among themselves over parking spots,” she said.

Moli is appealing to the local council to take action against the errant workshops.

“I work two jobs. I would usually go out at 6am and come home in the middle of the night.

“It is tiring for me to park far from my house since there are no parking spots available near my home.

“It is dangerous too for a woman to walk alone in the middle of the night.

“Some irresponsible residents have even vandalised cars here, including mine. All because we are fighting among ourselves for parking space,” she said.

Moli claimed that her tyres were punctured on several occasions and last Wednesday, someone threw faeces on her windscreen.

“I have lodged a police report on the latest incident.

“However, the report will not solve anything if the Selayang Municipal Council (MPSepang) does nothing against the errant workshops.”

ACTIONLINE:

MPSepang has instructed the workshops to stop using the parking lots to keep their clients’ vehicles.

“Our enforcement officers have inspected the location and have also issued notices to the workshops.

“If the workshops fail to comply with our instruction, the vehicles will be towed,” said an MPSepang spokesman.
