PENANG Umno will “spill the dirt” on the DAP-led state government’s weaknesses in the upcoming Umno general assembly as a lesson to other states.

State Umno chief Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said delegates from the state would raise the problems faced by Penang folk since DAP came to power in the state in 2008.

He said issues included the perennial floods and landslides as a result of uncontrolled development, especially on hillslopes, and land clearing near water catchment areas.

“We want to show that a change in government may not be good for the people. It may even spell trouble.

“We hope Penang delegates will speak their mind to provide a lesson to other states,” he said after opening the Industry 4.0 week at the Penang Skills Development Centre here yesterday.

This year’s Umno general assembly is scheduled for Dec 5 to 9.

Zainal said Penang Umno would send three debaters to speak on the policy speech by the party president, as well as on the economy and religion.

Permatang Pauh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said had been selected to debate on the presidential address, while state Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim and Tasek Gelugor Umno division Youth chief Nashrol Hisham Abdullah will debate on the economy and religion respectively.

Zainal said: “We hope delegates will raise the spirit of party members in preparation for the general election.
