‘Govts should stand behind digital growth’

-

KUCHING: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak said governments should stand behind digital growth, especially on developing talent.

“Digital growth really is the future of whole world. The countries that do the best (in digital development) are the ones that will go the furthest and have the best level of income.

“The countries should try to attract the best talent in the region. They should also educate and incubate the local talent.

“The governments should modify the school programmes to include software, hardware, robotics and all that in curriculum starting from primary education,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the World Islamic Economic Forum, here, yesterday.

Wozniak said blockchain technology was the next big thing that would affect all walks of life, providing disruptive changes to old ways of doing things.

He said more applications besides digital currency could be developed to harness the technology.

For example, blockchain would disrupt the current centralised cloud storage services to have the data in multiple locations for improved security, he added.

Blockchain is a form of technology that ensures that all transactions are properly conducted and recorded albeit at multiple locations. The common digital currency that uses blockchain technology is Bitcoin. Amir Hisyam Rasid
