-

KUALA LUMPUR: A man who allegedly punched another person, over a bid to lay his hands on new Adidas trainers in a mall here recently, was charged yesterday for the offence at the magistrate’s court.

Mohammad Fikry Mamot, 29, claimed trial to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by punching Faiz Hari Nurhuda, 22, in front of the KLCC Adidas boutique at 6am on Nov 11.

The Johor man was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code.

Clad in a blue shirt and sweater, the father of three appeared calm when the charge was read to him before magistrate Mahyuddin Mohmed Som.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin asked the court to set bail at RM10,000 with one surety for the accused.

However, Fikry, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a minimum bail, stating that he was unemployed and had to care for his children.

The court set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed Dec 26 for mention.

A 50-second video of the incident went viral recently, showing a brawl between two men in front of the Adidas Originals KLCC store, which was believed to have occurred when the victim told the accused not to jump the queue.

The accused had insisted that there was a list and he was queuing up according to the list.

The victim and others then explained to him that Adidas had always practised a first-comefirst-served condition for limited releases.

KLCC was among the few selected stores in Klang Valley to release the shoes. The trainers were sold on a first-come, firstserved basis, with a retail price of RM1,150 per pair.

Fans had camped overnight at the outlet to secure a spot to buy the sneakers.
