MNZCC celebrates 25th anniversary

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (MNZCC) celebrated its 25th anniversary in grand fashion here on Saturday evening, with performances by some of New Zealand’s best bands and musicians.

More than 600 guests attended the New Zealand Annual Dinner and Dance, hosted by MNZCC, a private non-profit organisation established to help businesses from both countries connect better.

The chamber’s newly-appointed president, Bruce Hope, said he was overwhelmed by the good turnout at the dinner, and promised to maintain the close relationship shared by both countries.

“We go a long way back — since 1992. Our main goal is to create a platform to easily connect Malaysian and New Zealand businesses and people, including alumni who have studied there.

“Over the years, I must say that we have gained a lot from one another, especially in terms of business activities,” Hope said.

He said this year was extra special as it marked MNZCC’s 25th year of working with Malaysians.

“Every year, there are at least 3,000 Malaysian who pursue their studies in New Zealand, and somehow, a link remains even after they finish and return to Malaysia,” said Hope, who had lived in the country for more than 14 years.

He said about 1,000 New Zealanders were living in Malaysia.

A bevy of entertainers revved up the annual dinner at Shangri-La Hotel here.

Leading the pack was the popular allfemale trio Lady Killers, known for their unique performances across genres from pop to country and rock and roll.
