Celcom service revenue grows fastest among industry players in Q3
CEO expects similar performance in Q4
CELCOM Axiata Bhd says it posted the fastest service revenue growth among industry players in the third quarter. Chief executive officer Michael Kuehner expects similar performance in the fourth quarter.
Its service revenue rose 1.9 per cent to RM1.52 billion in the third quarter ended September 30 this year from a year ago, boosted by overall operational turnaround.
Kuehner said the growth was the fastest in the industry despite intensely competitive environment.
“We expect similar or better fourth quarter than the current quarter. We are also optimistic about our operational efficiency in the next quarter, following the progress of current initiatives.
“We have always been focusing on service revenue to determine our profitability and we are on target to regain our market share,” he said at a briefing, here, yesterday.
He said Celcom had prioritised customer experience and cost optimisation measures to drive positive outcomes and improve profitability.
“We have been persistent in our focus to improve customers’ digital experience as part of our commitment to deliver an awesome customer experience. We provide the best video experience, the introduction of simple and transparent products, the continuous upgrade for network quality and improvements in the distribution and sales channels.
“We have intensified our efforts to improve customer experience in Sabah and Sarawak with the introduction of new high-speed fibre Internet connection services to provide 10 times faster unlimited download speeds of up to 100Mbps,” he added.
The company retained strong overall data performance for the quarter with data revenue growing more than 25 per cent yearon-year to RM730 million, contributing 44 per cent to its total revenue.
It also recorded robust prepaid performance with a 3.7 per cent increase in its revenue, driven by positive traction from data, leading to an improvement in prepaid average revenue per user of RM2 to RM33 for the quarter.
