ALL-NEW SUBARU XV VARIANTS LAUNCHED

TC Subaru Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributo­r of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the all-new Subaru XV, nearly six months after its regional debut in Taiwan.

The all-new Subaru XV comes in two variants - the Subaru XV 2.0i and Subaru XV 2.0i-P. Both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre direct fuel injection naturally aspirated Boxer engine mated to the lineartron­ic sev- en-speed CVT transmissi­on, capable to 154hp at 6,000rpm and 196Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.

Subaru claims that 80 per cent of the engine parts have been improved and the revised engine is 12kg lighter than its predecesso­r.

This is the second model that sits on the new Subaru Global Platform, which enhance the driving experience. Compared to the first generation XV that was launched in 2012, the all-new XV is more rugged and sportier.

It measures at 4,465mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,615mm in height, with a 220mm ground clearance. It has a 63 litres of fuel tank capacity and 385 litres of boot capacity.

The standard equipment available for both models are the X-Mode function, cruise control, eight-inch touchscree­n display, six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth connectivi­ty, 4.2-inch TFT LCD instrument panel info display, front fog lights, LED rear combinatio­n lamps, power-adjustable driver’s seat, electronic parking brakes, paddle shifters and a rear view camera.

To set apart both variants, the Subaru XV 2.0i is equipped with the halogen complex surface reflector headlamps, PU finished steering wheel, automatic air-conditioni­ng. black window line trims and black roof rails.

As for the Subaru XV 2.0i-P, it has the auto-levelling LED headlights with C-shaped LED daytime running lights, leather wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone air-conditioni­ng system, aluminium pedals, chrome window line trims and silver roof rails.

The safety aspects of both variants include seven airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distributi­on, brake assist, vehicle dynamic control, hill start assist and isofix childseat mounting points.

There are six colours available for the Subaru XV - Sunshine Orange, Dark Blue Pearl, Pure White, Ice Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic and Crystal Black Silica. The Subaru XV 2.0i is priced at RM118,819 and the 2.0i-P is retailed at RM125,868, both excluding insurance.
