MBPJ girls sweep three titles

DEFENDING champions Amazing Kemuning and Remaja MBPJ Avengers clinched the girls' Under-12 and Under-15 titles respectively for the third consecutive time while Remaja MBPJ Fighters grabbed the girls' Under-18 title at the 27th USMPenang International Netball Carnival recently.

All the three winning teams were from Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) Selangor.

MBPJ have successfully won titles again and again over the years and this year, their sides swept all the age-group titles in the three-day tournament at the Azman Hashim USM Sports Arena indoor stadium.

The highlight of the event was the girls' Under-15 competition which was a closely fought affair.

Three teams from Sri Lanka, namely HFC U15, Girls' High 01 and Hillwood Team, qualified for the semi-finals. Only HFC U15 reached the final but lost 18-7 to Remaja MBPJ Avengers.

A total of 150 teams took part, including international schools, teams from Sri Lanka and Brunei. —
