FOOTBALL Malaysia LLP (FMLLP) have denied practising double standards in Super League licensing issues involving Kedah and Felda. FMLLP have been questioned by critics over the approval of a Super League licence to Kedah while Felda were demoted next season for not havng one.

FMLLP stated in their Facebook account yesterday that their decisions on Kedah and Felda cannot be compared because they are two different cases.

FMLLP came out with the statement after they were accused of taking sides in handling the licence issue.

FMLLP pointed out that they were following the rules set by the Asian Football Confederation after the M-League organisers did not receive the required document for a licence.

“Kedah FA managed to submit their audited accounts before the Appeals Committee met.

“Though they (Kedah) were not considered for an AFC licence (to take part in AFC league), the appeals committee gave some leeway for their late submission of a FAM licence (for the M-League).

“In Felda United case, they did not submit their audited account before the deadline set by the appeals committee. Because of this, they were not considered for the AFC and FAM licences.”

Meanwhile former national player Khalid Ali said FMLLP’s demotion of Felda has “killed” the motivation of their players.

Khalid Ali, who criticised the FMLLP move, said it has also reduced the competitiveness of the Super League as Felda have proved that they are one of the top teams.

“Though Malaysian football has gone professional for quite a while, we still have documentation problem. This shows our game is still behind,” said Khalid.
