Proton Holdings Bhd sold 66,190 vehicles as at last month, a two per cent growth from the 65,069 units recorded in the same period last year.

Its sales are led by the Saga and Persona models , which together contributed 70 per cent to its total sales with 28,368 and 18,113 units, respectively.

Vice-president of sales and marketing Abdul Rashid Musa said the steady growth from January to November was a positive achievement for the national carmaker.

“We will continue to push ourselves harder in the coming months and hope customers will take advantage of the year-end deals for Proton cars,” he said in a statement.

He added that growth could be seen coming from quality improvements.

“Together with our partner, Proton has intensified quality improvement processes and efforts, with exceptional sharing of knowledge and skills and the opportunity for our local team to be trained at Geely (Zhejiang Geely Holding Group) in China,” Rashid said.

“We shall keep working on further improvements to our cars and look forward to providing better customer satisfaction.”

He said the reliability and durability of Proton cars were tested during the gruelling Sepang 1,000km Endurance Race 2017 last month, where the national marque finished as the overall winner.

Following the championship win, the Iriz model recorded a 2.8 per cent increase in sales last month compared with the month before.
