Zaid gets warning from JMM
KUALA LUMPUR: Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) warned Datuk Zaid Ibrahim to stop making seditious statements against the rulers or face the possibility of being dragged to the police station.
Its president, Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah, said the DAP member’s statement against Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had insulted the sovereignty of the royal institution and hurt the people of Selangor.
“The sultan should not be dragged into political fiasco. Zaid’s statement is not only rude, but is also an attempt to instigate Malaysians to go against each other.
“As the 14th General Election gets nearer, we can see that he (Zaid) is trying many strategies to break people’s trust in each other,” he said after lodging a police report against Zaid along with six other non-governmental organisations at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters here yesterday.
He said the authorities should act against Zaid.
“We would like to warn Zaid that if he continues with statements like this, we will not hesitate to protest in front of his house, and, if needed, drag him to the police station.
“If he wants to take this as a threat against him, we don’t mind.
“He can make a police report against us, but we are giving him a serious warning here.”
Present at the police headquarters were representatives from Chinese-based NGOs, My-Ampang, Hata charity organisation, San Chuan Welfare Association, Malay-based NGO Perkasa and the Selangor Youth Parliament.
