Big Bad Wolf is back and better

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The annual Big Bad Wolf (BBW) book event is back and “badder” than ever. This time it’s not just a sale; it’s a fair with something for everyone in the family, and the 4.5 million English, Malay and Chinese books on offer are just part of the attraction.

“It is gratifying to see the growing success of our mission each year as more visitors come to the event,” said Andrew Yap, managing director of BookXcess, the organiser.

Like previous BBW events, customers get 75 to 95 per cent discounts on English books.

This year, there are on-site activities and experiences to keep visitors engaged.

BBW and its food and beverage arm, Best Dessert in the World Sdn Bhd, brought Thai dessert phenomenon After You to Malaysia for the first time, with a pop-up store serving kakigori and toast. There will also be cakes by Madeleine Café and freshly-brewed coffee by Coffex.

This year, there is also a collaboration with Ejen Ali —a Malaysian animated television series — and video-streaming service Tonton to launch children’s books for those aged 8 to 12.

There will also be exciting missions and challenges from Ejen Ali’s MATA HQ, a live reading performance by the Ejen Ali voice-over cast, Ejen Ali mascot meet-and-greet sessions, colouring and quiz contests, as well as “Bonus Hour” promotions for Ejen Ali merchandise, including back-to-school items, stationery and toys.

Visitors to BBW can also learn about and explore the Milky Way galaxy and other constellations at the Petrosains Star Lab at its inflatable dome.

“This year’s BBW is a fair packed with activities and dining options. It is a perfect opportunity for families to stock up on books during the holiday season,” Yap said.

The BBW fair is held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre. It started at 7am on Dec 8 and will end at 11.59pm on Dec 18.
