“... the entrance of Condor Airlines will enhance the connectivity from Europe to Malaysia.”
Carrier to begin Frankfurt-KL flights in November next year
GERMAN carrier Condor Airlines is set to commence its Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur route next year. The airline will commence a thrice-weekly service starting in November next year using the A330-200 aircraft. This adds up to about 850 inbound passengers a week.
Tourism Malaysia has inked a memorandum of marketing collaboration with Condor Airlines to begin a joint-marketing initiative utilising promotional fund set up by Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said with the tie-up, it was hoped that the number of European passengers, particularly from Germany, would rise.
“There have been no direct flights between Germany and Kuala Lumpur since the withdrawal of services by Malaysia Airlines and Lufthansa.
“MAHB and Tourism Malaysia have been working hand-in-hand in wooing airlines from Europe and the entrance of Condor Airlines will enhance the connectivity between Europe and Malaysia,” he said.
MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur route would enable Kuala Lumpur International Airport to expand its connectivity from Europe.
This would also further enhance its role as a regional hub.
“MAHB will support Condor Airlines in all operational matters at the airport,” he added.
