‘Victim joined drug party before death’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: A Dutch model who fell to her death from the 20th floor of a condominium in Dang Wangi last week, allegedly attended a drug-fuelled swingers party few hours before her body was found.

Ivana Esther Robert Smit, 19, allegedly partied with a 45-year old American and his Kazakh wife at the couple’s home before she plunged 14 floors to her death.

Her body was found at 10am. Smit’s family suspected foul play and claimed that there were bruises on the girl’s neck, which looked like strangulation marks.

The British media reported that the victim’s father, Marcel Smit, had told reporters that he had heard rumours that the couple, with whom his daughter was partying, were actually swingers who frequently brought young models home.

He was reported as saying that his daughter returned to the couple’s apartment at 5am and she later sent her boyfriend a selfie at 7.25am.

He claimed that neighbours had reported hearing an argument at the condominium unit.

The couple tested positive for drugs and were charged on Monday with drug abuse.

A source confirmed that they were being held at the Sungai Buloh and Kajang prisons.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah said although police had classified the case as sudden death, they would reclassify the case if criminal elements were involved.
