FUN ROMP THAT’S FULL OF BULL

-

tradition, bullfighting seems barbaric and simply screams “animal cruelty”.

Thankfully, the film didn’t go into details but gives us a look from the bulls’ perspective instead.

Despite having a slight gory element,

is essentially a heartwarming family comedy adventure perfect for the holiday season.

Director Carlos Saldanha is not new to the children’s animation genre, having directed the and animated film series. So you can expect lots of kid-friendly slapstick comedy.

There are several characters whose unique personalities add flavour to the humour, including the Scottish bull named Angus, Maquina the mute “engineered” bull and the three arrogant show ponies from Europe, namely, Klaus, Hans and Greta.

Ferdinand’s buddy is the old goat Lupe. It’s voiced by comedienne Kate McKinnon but the humour coming from the character was flat.

Thankfully, there are two scenes that got me laughing out loud. Imagine a big fat bull trying to squeeze his way through a room full of expensive china. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!

Another scene features the bulls’ danceoff with their horsy neighbours. It’s just something you never expect.

Overall, is fun for the kids, but the climax will definitely interest older audiences.
