Phone line, Net connection down for a month

-

A CUSTOMER of Telekom Malaysia Bhd has complained that her residential telephone line and Internet connection have not been functioning since October.

Boon Gwek Neo, 52, who subscribes to the TM Streamyx Internet package, said she had lodged several complaints with TM.

“TM contacted me several times via text messages and phone calls to inform me that there was a disruption of service in my area and that they would solve the problem within a week.

“It has been more than a month and the telephone line and Internet connection are still not working.

“I was told that there would be no compensation for the disruption of the residential telephone line since the package I subscribed to included free calls.

“This is not fair as I have to use alternative methods to make phone calls, meaning I have to spend more,” she said.

Boon, who lives in Melaka, said she was also disappointed with the slow Streamyx Internet connection, which was supposed to be 8Mbps.

“The Internet speed is so slow that it is frustrating to watch television.”

According to TM, its technical team had acted swiftly to restore the complainant’s telephone and Streamyx services.

TM, in a statement, said the connectivity problem experienced by the complainant was due to cable theft in the area.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the complainant for her patience and understanding,” it said.

TM urged the public to lodge reports if they come across any cable theft and vandalism of telecommunications facilities.
