BRITISH American Tobacco (BAT) Malaysia and BAT Global Business Services have been officially certified as Malaysia’s Top Employer for 2018, reinstating their positions as employers of choice that put people first.

BAT Malaysia said its counterparts in Indonesia, Australia and Japan also received the certification in their respective countries, as well as the group collectively, from Top Employers Institute (TEI), positioning it as a top employer in Asia Pacific for next year.

TEI is an independent organisation that identifies the offerings of leading employers around the world. It compares them against international standards based on an annual independent research conducted by the institute itself.

This year, the institute announced the results of the research on employees’ working conditions under significant employers in Asia Pacific.

Collectively managing an employee strength of over 1,000, BAT Malaysia and BAT Global Business Services will be officially recognised as leading employers, setting unprecedented standards of employee offerings in the region.

The comprehensive independent research also revealed that the companies provided growthconducive employee conditions, nurtured and developed talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and demonstrated its leadership status in the human resource environment — always striving to optimise its innovative employment practices and to develop its employees.

“We are very excited to be recognised as the Top Employer in Malaysia. We have a strong presence here. Our people are the cornerstone of our success,” said BAT Malaysia managing director Erik Stoel.

BAT Malaysia HR director Samanmali Chandrasiri said building a dynamic and innovative workplace was one of the company’s top priorities.

“We always strive to be a step ahead in creating the right environment for talented and passionate people to excel. Our recent revamp of HR strategy and benefits was all about giving value proposition to people.”
