Gathering to be held in different mosques every third Friday

-

The Solidarity Rally for Jerusalem will be held at different mosques nationwide on every third Friday of the month, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said this would ensure the Palestinian cause and Malaysia’s stand to oppose the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital reverberated throughout the country.

The solidarity gatherings, he said, would inspire the spirit to defend Jerusalem.

“We will champion this issue in various diplomatic channels, through politics and financial contributions and conduct prayers so that Jerusalem will one day belong to the Palestinians.

“We will do whatever necessary to ensure Jerusalem returns to the Palestinians. We will not budge from our stand. No matter how many times we hit the wall, we will remain true to what we believe.

“I yearn to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque one day, but I do not want to have to seek permission from the Zionist regime, as is the case now.”

Najib told the crowd that Muslims across the world had no option but to support the Palestinians’ struggles.

He said he was confident the rally would send a clear message to the world that Muslims were united in rejecting the US’ move.

“Let us turn this into a tsunami for the rise of Islam. The solidarity among Muslims on this issue can be a catalyst to strengthen solidarity among Muslims here and across the world.”

He said he would never pawn the sanctity of Islam and would continue to defend Jerusalem.
