K-POP girl group Twice has become the first female South Korean act to have hit over 300 million views on YouTube. In a news report by Allkpop, the group’s popularity had increased exponentially after emerging on the music scene back in 2015.
With a string of successful hit singles, which saw the nine-member group’s music videos rack up lots of views, its hit song TT, released in October last year, has since had the distinction of accumulating over 300 million views.
The report stated that this made Twice the first girl group and second idol group, after famous boy band Big Bang, to accomplish such a feat.
On a different note, Allkpop also reported that insiders had revealed two members from Twice would be replacing Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi for the special Fin.K.L performance at the SBS Gayo Daejeon.
Apparently, the organisers had confirmed about a week ago that Nayeon and Dahyun from Twice would be collaborating with Irene and Seulgi.
But due to the recent suicide of Shinee’s Jonghyun, it had become difficult for the two Red Velvet members to continue on with the performance.
Because of this, two other members from Twice will be taking Red Velvet’s place.
SBS Gayo Daejeon, a popular annual end-of-the-year music programme, will take place on Dec 25 at 5.50pm KST.
