Don’t add fuel to the fire, says Amyra
ACTRESS Amyra Rosli, 26, has one of the strongest following on social media with 3.2 million followers, just falling short of other celebrities, such as Fasha Sandha and Lisa Surihani.
But having a large audience following your daily updates is not always as fabulous as one might think.
Thanks to trolls, there is no shortage of fodder for such individuals to find reason to post comments that trigger controversies.
Case in point was when Amyra shared a photo of herself feeding her newborn son, Aqeef Anaqi, with a milk bottle.
Netizens were quick to misjudge her for using the bottle instead of breastfeeding him.
Amyra, who breastfeeds and was going through confinement at that time, said she tried her best not to let hateful comments get to her, especially since she was aware that her emotions could get a little unstable during the confinement period.
“That bottle was a gift from someone, so I wanted to promote the brand on my profile.
“Don’t tell me I was supposed to share pictures of me breastfeeding on social media?
“As a celebrity, I have to accept the fact that I am under public scrutiny, and there’s no escape from it.
“But the best thing to do is to ignore it, because the more you fight back or respond, the more these trolls will enjoy it.
“Don’t add fuel to the fire, it’s as simple as that,” she said to the New Straits Times.
On a different note, when Amyra was asked how she felt if trolls posted negative comments on her son’s Instagram account, she said: “There’s nothing much I can do, except to ignore all the negativity and hate.
“As a parent, I don’t want to read any comments that are disrespectful or inappropriate, but I just have to soldier on when such a situation happens.
“The reason I set up the acwas count to create a digital album that compiles memories of our son as he grows up, which I also want to share with our fans,” she said. By Syahirah
