Pas denies report on Selangor reps joining PKR
SHAH ALAM: No Selangor Pas leader is joining PKR, Pas vicepresident Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad said in denying a report on an online portal.
“To me, it is a rumour that is created to disrupt Selangor Pas’ preparation to face the general election, which is expected to take place in less than three months.
“It is meant to create anxiety among party members so that they lose focus.”
Iskandar said he had spoken to Selangor Pas assemblymen, who were shocked by the rumour.
He added that He urged them to carry on with their duties. “They should not repeat or spread any news with unknown sources.
“Any news that is speculation should be disregarded. “They must not be trapped by our enemies’ strategies, who want to see the party’s preparations for the general election paralysed.
“Such enemies want to see Pas leaders and members doubting each other,” said Iskandar, who is Cempaka assemblyman.
Quoting sources, the report said defectors from the party could be office-bearers, and they consisted of at least four Selangor Pas assemblymen, who were disenchanted with the party’s decision to fight alone in the 14th General Election.
There are 56 state seats in Selangor.
Pas used to hold 15 seats until 2015, following the exit of two assemblymen — Hulu Klang’s Saari Sungib and Morib’s Hasnul Baharuddin — to its splinter party, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
PKR has 13 seats; DAP, 14, Barisan Nasional, 12, and two independent state assemblymen — Port Klang’s Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Teluk’s Datuk Loh Chee Heng.
