THE potent methamphetamine-laced “pil kuda” is being packed in candy containers by syndicates in their bid to avoid detection.

The National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) said this was discovered during a raid at a house, where three friends were held, at Kampung Baru Sungai Ular near Cherating on Friday.

Investigations revealed the unemployed trio, aged between 24 and 30, collected empty candy containers, cleaned them and packed the drugs in the bottles before selling them.

A total of 150 meth pills worth RM3,000 were seized.

State Nada Enforcement and Safety assistant director Rizal Seaat said investigations revealed that the trio had been operating for about six months and they used the house to store and pack the drugs.

He said the syndicate’s modus operandi was to use popular candy containers to distribute the pills because they would normally be packed in small plastic packets.

A source said the men received their supplies from outside Pahang and had been distributing the drugs around Gebeng, Sungai Ular and Chendor here.

“The containers are common... people will not suspect anything when they see the containers, and this made it easier for the syndicate to convince customers and avoid arrest.

“Upon receiving information several weeks ago, Nada monitored the suspects and their activities,” he said.

It is learnt that the men had attempted to escape during the raid but were overpowered by the raiding team, who later handed them to the police.
