Wanderers’ ex-player and volunteer needs help

-

NEGRI Sembilan Wanderers are hoping to raise funds for their former player and volunteer Hamidon Yunus who is in desperate need of bypass surgery.

Wanderers’ great Mazuri Sallehudin said Hamidon recently suffered breathing difficulties and a check-up at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre revealed heart issues which require corrective surgery.

“Hamidon needs RM12,000 for the surgery and other relevant costs. He earns a living as a street cobbler and is in financial difficulty at the moment as he has not been able to work since he has been sick,” said Mazuri.

“He has run out of savings and does not have any insurance. I hope we, his rugby family, sports fans can each do our part to help him by donating a small sum.”

Mazuri said Hamidon, 54, has been a permanent fixture at the club since the mid 1990s and was well-liked by almost everyone in the local rugby fraternity.

“For as long as I can remember, Hamidon has been our medic and masseuse.

“He was always on standby at the side of our pitch for every game until he retired due to age two years ago.

“Everyone loved and respected him when he was with the team because although he did not earn much as a street cobbler, he was willing to do so much for the club due to his passion for the sport.

“He never expected anything in return and never liked to trouble people.”

Those interested in donating can contact Mazuri at 012-2976924 or Wanderers official Shahizam Tukiran 0132885533.
