KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Digital Association’s (MDA) allnew “d Awards” return to celebrate the best innovative works in designing and execution of digital marketing campaigns and the talent behind them.

The organising committee, chaired by MDA vice-president Nick Drew, said the d Awards 2018 welcomes technical and creative digital works from any communication discipline.

“There is a little doubt that digital marketing is now mainstream. It has been too long that we, as an industry, have not recognised and celebrated the best work in the digital space,” said Drew, who is also Google Malaysia’s head of agency.

He said the overhaul of the d Awards and the categories reflected the pace of change in the industry and catered for advertisers, agencies and publishers.

“Our aim is to be inclusive and d Awards celebrates work from MDA members and non-members in their disciplines and beyond. We want advertisers, agencies and publishers to be proud alongside each other,” he said.

The d Awards 2018 features, in another first, recognition for individuals.

The young Digital Person of the Year award is for a person under the age of 30, who demonstrates exceptional measurable results in digital advertising.

“This award, we hope, will motivate others to enter the industry and contribute towards its growth. If nothing else, just a great opportunity to celebrate great people,” he said.

MDA president Serm Teck Choon said he is pleased that the Association’s d Award coincides with the exponential progress in the Malaysian digital advertising landscape.

“Over the years we have seen a rise in the standard and quality of campaigns and work. The d Awards will showcase the best work and, in the process, benchmark the progress of the industry,” said Serm, who is also CtrlShift Malaysia country head and head of product.

“The d Awards is the only industry award event that measures the impact and results of effective use of digital, which is the basis of all successful advertising. In ensuring that the talent that helps their clients achieved their goals is not overlooked is absolutely vital,” he said.

Campaigns that were executed in Malaysia between January 1 and December 31 this year are entitled for submission.

The early bird and extended submission deadlines are set for Friday and January 5 next year by 5pm respectively.
