More chances to study in NZ

-

KYS Business School (KYSB), the nation’s only education institution that offers a New Zealand chartered accountancy pathway programme, has rolled out several new courses to further strengthen its niche as a centre of excellence for New Zealand education.

KYSB executive officer and academic director Noor Zaidi Mohd Noor said the college launched the Foundation Certificate for New Zealand Universities (FCertNZ) earlier this year to provide a wider opportunity for Malaysian students to further their studies in their desired fields in New Zealand.

“We have developed a one-year Foundation Certificate for New Zealand Universities programme through the Foundation in Commerce and Foundation in Science programmes to allow students who wish to study courses other than accountancy and social sciences.

“The new foundation programme offers a variety of courses in the fields of humanities, commerce, sciences, engineering, as well as health sciences, at any of the eight universities in New Zealand.”

Foundation in Commerce will lead students to a Bachelor of Commerce in 15 different majors, including finance, information systems, taxation, management, human resource management, international business, commercial law, information management, public policy, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, actuarial science and operation and Supply chain management and humanities.

For Foundation in Science, it will provide a pathway to a myriad of undergraduate study programmes in the discipline of health and applied sciences, engineering, architecture and IT.

Zaidi said the FCertNZ programme, which will start in March, was built on a collaboration agreement signed between three leading universities representing the consortium of all eight New Zealand universities — the University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington and University of Waikato — and KYS International College (KYSIC).

Students who complete the oneyear foundation programme at KYSB, Ayer Keroh campus, will transfer to any of the internationally recognised universities of their choice in New Zealand to complete their undergraduate studies.

“We provide guided preparation in language, cultural and social expectation, while assisting students to undergo a smooth transition from local learning experience to an international study environment,” Zaidi said.

Since its inception in 2013, the 4-year-old boutique college is proud to offer an accelerated pathway for those aspiring to be a professional and qualified chartered accountant in just seven years at top universities in New Zealand.

“Our vision is to provide the fastest route, focused and effective academic studies, according to New Zealand’s academic syllabus, for students to transfer smoothly and perform well in their undergraduate studies.

“Over the last three years, our programme also saw a 96 per cent transfer rate of students to New Zealand universities, and a vast majority of our graduates have secured jobs in the relevant accountancy field, with some doing the chartered accountancy programme at big corporations in New Zealand,” he said.

SPM leavers who wish to enquire on the courses can attend the New Zealand Edu-Camp 2018 on Jan 13 and 14 at the campus in Ayer Keroh Country Resort.
