BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT
Touched by the suffering of young cancer patients, actress Diana Danielle is inspired to do more, writes TAHIR ALHAMZAH
VISITING the children’s cancer ward at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) a day before Christmas has made actress Datin Diana Danielle reflect on her life.
The 26-year-old artiste, who has 1.6 million Instagram followers, recently uploaded a picture of herself at the hospital on her Instagram account, with a caption that read: “As the chairman of @dpa.official, this is the best part of my job. These angels from the children’s cancer ward in HKL made my day on the 24th of December this year. You inspire me to do more good...”
The post garnered 22,197 likes. When the New Straits Times contacted Diana yesterday, she said she met parents of young cancer sufferers at the children’s ward.
“As a mother, I can relate with how the parents must have felt to care for their sick children. I look up to them for being strong, going through what could easily be one of the toughest times in their lives. And I couldn’t help wondering if I would be just as strong if I were in their shoes.
“I met this lady who had to quit her job so that she could be with her 4-year-old son at the hospital.
“He had a tumour in his head and he could hardly talk.
“She broke down when she told me her about her struggles and recounted how her son used to have beautiful curly hair and a bright personality. She also shared how they drew strength from each other. Whenever she was overcome with grief, her sick son would quickly wipe her tears dry,” she added.
The visit to the children’s ward was organised by Dewan Perniagaan Artis Dan Selebriti (DPA) Malaysia, a non-governmental organisation which was launched earlier this month. Diana is DPA chairman.
Many Netizens commended her for taking time off from her busy schedule to spend some time with the children.
Some even volunteered should Diana and the organisation need help in future.
Diana was among the nine artistes who formed the DPA committee.
The others are Bront Palarae, Hazama Azmi, Hafiz Suip, Akim Ahmad, Stacy Anam, Wan Hanafi Su, Soffi Jikan and Datuk Farid Kamil, who is Diana’s husband.
