Year-end movies galore

Tahir Alhamzah looks at what TV3 and TV9 have lined up for viewers

AS the year comes to an end, many are taking time off their busy schedules to go on a muchneeded holiday, or simply to relax at home.

For those who are fortunate enough to relax at home at this time of the year, watching TV is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to get cozy on the settee.

TV3 and TV9 have lined up a range of movies of various genres, from local pro- ductions to Hollywood and Bollywood as well as Korean and Chinese movies to entertain viewers.

At 5pmtoday, catch PussInBoot­s onTV9.

This 3D-computer-animated action comedy film produced in 2011 by DreamWorks Animation, tells the story of Puss, voiced by Antonio Banderas, who is a suspect in a bank robbery.

Other stars wholent their voices include Salma Hayek and Zach Galifianak­is.

At 10pm, catch Sean Boswell (played by Lucas Black) in The Fast & The Furious:

Tokyo Drift on TV3.

Sean, who always feels like an outsider, defines himself through his victories as a street racer. His hobby makes him unpopular with the authoritie­s so he goes to live with his father in Japan. The movie also stars Zachery Ty Bryan and Shad Moss.

Right after the movie, stay on to watch Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone 2 at 12.30am. One year after Kevin (Culkin) was left at home alone and had to defeat a pair of bumbling burglars, he accidental­ly finds himself in New York City, with the same criminals again.

At noon the following day, catch local production Pengantin Gila on TV3, starring Hafreez Adam, Diana Danielle, Nadiah M. Din andReenRah­im. After ayear of being in a relationsh­ip, Jeff and Dania decide to get married. Chaos starts when Dania wants a grand weddingbut Jeff andhis family prefer a low-key affair.

At 2pmcatchBo­llywood movie Duplicate on TV3. Bablu Chaudhary, a bubbly young man, is an aspiring chef. He gets a job at a hotel and meets the charming manager, Sonia Kapoor. Starring Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan.

Meanwhile, TV9 airs Men In Black II and Men In Black III back to back from 8.30pm to 12.30am. Watch Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith who play providers of immigratio­n services and regulators of all things alien on Earth.

At 12.30am, TV3 airs Dredd, in which Karl Urban plays one of Mega City One’s most-feared cops called “judges”.

On Sunday, children can tune to TV3 at 3 pm to watch Despicable Me 2. Now that G ru (Steve Carell) has forsaken a life of crime to raise Margo, Agnes and Edith, he tries to figure out how to provide for his new family. The computer-animated movie also has the voices of Kristen Wiig and Benjamin Bratt.

At 6pm on TV9, fans of local animation Upin & Ipin can catch the twins in the 2009 movie Upin & Ipin: Geng Pengembara­an Bermula.

Guardians Of The Galaxy comes next on the channel at 8.30pm, followed by South Korean movie A Company Man starring So Ji-seob, Lee Mi-yeon and Kwak Do-won.

Meanwhile on TV3 at 10pm, A Flying Jatt tells the story of Jatt who is a reluctant superhero who fights crime and protects people. He meets his match in the evil Raka, whom he must vanquish to save the day.

On Jan 1, at 8.30pm tune in to TV9 for the telemovie Oops, Terlebih Pulak! It tells the story of Adrie who must accept the fact that his wife Thia is going to further her studies in South Korea. Starring Saharul Ridzwan, Uqasha Senrose and Nad Zainal.

Meanwhile, at 10pm on TV3, catch the movie Oblivion. It is about Jack Harper (TomCruise) whois a security repairman on Earth after it is devastated from a war with aliens. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Andrea Riseboroug­h.
