Actor’s heartfelt acceptance speech

SOUTH Korean actor Park Seojoon was emotional after receiving an Excellence Award in the miniseries category for Fight My Way at the recent 2017 KBS Drama Awards.

According to Soompi, Park, 29, began to break down while delivering his acceptance speech with a message to his parents, particularly his father.

After thanking the drama’s director, writer, co-stars and everyone in the Fight My Way family, he said: “There is something I wanted to say if I won an award.

“My father recently said to me, ‘Now people do not call me by my own name, they call me ‘Park Seojoon’s father’. That was upsetting. I am a son that is not good at expressing myself to my parents. Father, if it had not been for you, I would not be here.”

By this time he was already choked up with emotion, but continued: “I sincerely love you. I love you too, mum, and I love my family. I will be a good son. I realised that there is nothing more important than my family’s health and happiness.

“Everyone, although you may have dreams and goals for 2018, I hope that this year is one in which you can spend a lot of time with your family. Happy New Year.

“I also want to express my love and thanks to everyone who has helped me so far,”

Park, who has starred in other dramas such as Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty, also won a Netizen Award and a Best Couple award with Fight My Way co-star Kim Ji-won.

In the miniseries, he plays a mixed martial arts fighter pursuing his dream of going after the UFC title and falls in love with his childhood friend.
