THE flood situation in several states has worsened due to non-stop rain, and the number of residents fleeing their homes has increased, with two deaths reported in Pahang.

A 17-year-old boy became the second victim in Pahang when he had an epileptic attack in floodwaters in Kampung Tiram early yesterday.

His death came less than 24 hours after a 7-year-old boy drowned while playing near a monsoon drain in Kampung Padang Jaya on Wednesday.

State police chief Datuk Seri Rosli A. Rahman said investigations revealed that Al Asyraf Danial Mohd Al Asadi had visited a friend in Kampung Tiram before walking back to his house in Kampung Permatang Badak near here.

“The victim, who was alone when he suffered an epileptic attack, fell into knee-deep floodwaters.

“Villagers who spotted the victim lying in the water alerted the authorities.

“He was pronounced dead at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here and his family has been informed about it,” he said.

On Wednesday, Mohd Faris Aqeel Mohd Afif became the first victim when he drowned while playing near the monsoon drain with his younger sibling about 5pm.
