‘Pakatan is a collection of disgruntled leaders’

KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan is merely a collection of disgruntled leaders, whose only communality is dissatisfaction and unfulfilled personal aspirations, senior Barisan Nasional leader Tan Sri James Jemut Masing said.

Masing, who is also Sarawak deputy chief minister and Parti Rakyat Sarawak president, said this was the reason the opposition leaders failed to come to a consensus in nominating Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Pakatan Harapan’s prime ministerial candidate.

“Under such a situation, it is very difficult to achieve consensus on who should lead the fight.

“This is because all of them (Pakatan Harapan leaders) want to be the top leader.

“They may sleep on the same bed, but each of them has their own different agenda.

“Therefore, the consensus on leadership could never be achieved in such a situation,” Masing told the New Straits Times.

Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang said the dispute among Pakatan Harapan leaders on who should be nominated as prime minister showed that they were incapable of leading the country.

“In any democratic country, the basic matter for a political party to decide on is its choice as prime minister. That should be done before going into a general election.

“If they can’t even decide on such a simple matter, how are they going to run the country if they win?

“I think the country would be in chaos if they win. There will be another fight among themselves on who should be prime minister.”

Tan said it was good that Malaysians could see their problems now, which enabled them to make the right decision in the upcoming general election.
