Time is not a luxury for Selangor’s imports

-

THERE will not be much time to rest for Selangor’s two Indonesian imports who just joined the Red Giants.

Evan Dimas and Ilham Udin Armaiyn, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, have been urged to join their new teammates in training as soon as possible as the M-League begins in less than four weeks.

FA of Selangor (FAS) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said that since time is of the essence, he hopes the duo will be able to settle into the team fast and without any issues.

“At this juncture, we do not have the luxury of time on our side. Our two imports will need to adapt as fast as possible and understand what the team coach requires of them,” he said yesterday.

“Personally, I am relieved as the issue that arose over these two players has been settled, and I hope that the newfound good relationship between Selangor and the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) can remain and continue after this.

“Thankfully now we can focus completely on the team’s preparation for the coming new season.”

Prior to this, Subahan went to Jakarta to meet with PSSI head, Edy Rahmayadi to find an amicable solution involving the transfer of both the players to Selangor.

The outcome of the meeting was positive with both Dimas and Ilham given the green light to join Selangor.

Through the same meeting, Selangor also agreed to release the two players if PSSI need them to train with their national team, especially for their Under-23 squad.

Their transfers to Selangor became a contentious issue when PSSI head Edy made a statement forbidding them from playing abroad, resulting in their delay to reporting to Selangor even though they had already signed contracts. Saiful Affendy Sapran
