Collaboration excites youth members

-

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA and Gerakan’s move to join forces to face the 14th General Election (GE14) has proved to be a winner among youth members.

The youth who attended the Stronger Together assembly expressed confidence in their top leadership’s decision, insisting that both sides had higher chances of doing better.

Pahang Gerakan Youth secretary Rax Chay Tong Seng said the cooperation between the parties was a positive step, as both sides had the same objective.

He said both sides had worked hard to make the union happen, and they were not going to waste the chance.

“Teamwork will increase our chances of winning, and I believe both MCA and Gerakan have higher chances this time around.

“In the past, such as in GE13, we had argued over zones and fought over BN seats.

“In the end, both parties suffered losses.”

He said it was not only MCA and Gerakan who were working closely together, but also other BN component parties.

Kuantan Gerakan Youth member Andrenacous Antonasamy, 28, expressed excitement about the new cooperation, saying it was time party members focused on a winning approach rather than arguing.

He said this made him and other youth members feel stronger as the election neared.

He welcomed the joint roadshow, saying it was important for those on the ground to understand what was happening at the national level.

MCA member Jenny Wong, 24, from Batu Gajah, Perak, said she felt pumped for the election with the historic announcement.

Expressing her excitement as a first-time voter, she said she was planning to volunteer for the joint roadshow.

“Now that we are working together, I believe we have an even bigger chance of winning.

“Not only is this a positive move, but it also shows our senior and top leadership is changing, transforming and understanding what needs to be done to attract voters.

“Bickering over seats does not show confidence, unity does.”
