Johor BN to pick local candidates who serve community

-

JOHOR BARU: Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) will pick local candidates whose focus is to serve the community rather than those from other places who can ensure victory for the party.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this was different from the approach adopted by the opposition which was not bothered about fielding candidates from outside as long as the party achieved victory.

He said what was even worse was that after winning the election, elected representatives from the opposition only knew about raising national issues and forgot about serving the local community.

“This means that right from the beginning, he/she (opposition) is telling the local community that the people (candidates) contesting have no intention of being with the community all the time.

“There is no effort at all to contribute or give ideas on how challenges faced by the community can be overcome by them.

“If there are problems faced by the people, the government can resolve them.

“However, if there are problems in the community, they should be able to resolve them.

“The BN representatives we will choose are from among the local community who understand the needs of the residents because every area has its own challenges,” said Khaled, who is also Johor menteri besar.

He hoped the people would vote for candidates selected by the government.
