POLICE have arrested a woman who claimed to be the wife of a cosmetics seller, who was found dead after he was attacked by four men at the Sri Muda night market in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said police had obtained a remand order against the 26year-old until Thursday to facilitate investigations into the case, which had been classified as murder.

He said the woman had no identification documents with her, but claimed that she was born in Malaysia to Indonesian parents.

On Friday night, the victim, Nor Syazrin Rasdi, 29, was operating his stall, accompanied by the woman and two Indonesian workers, aged 28 and 31 respectively, when the four men attacked him.

Shafien said police were alerted to the incident at 9.05pm on Friday where they found Nor Syazrin’s body with wounds on the neck and body at the scene in Jalan Cermat 25/36, Section 25, Shah Alam.

The information received by police indicated that Nor Syazrin had his throat slit by the attackers.

One of the workers, who tried to help Nor Syazrin, sustained head injuries and was sent to hospital.

Shafien said Nor Syazrin, from Kupang, Kedah, had just recently started his business at the night market.

Police have launched a search for the suspects and the weapon used in the attack.

Investigations are continuing to determine the motive behind the attack.
