‘BUILD ANOTHER BUS STOP’
COMMUTERS want Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to build another bus stop in Jalan Yong Shook Lin.
Gina Eng, a frequent user of the free PJ City Bus service, said the distance between the existing bus stops in Jalan Yong Shook Lin and Jalan Sultan was too great, and was an inconvenience to the large number of commuters who used the service.
“There are many office building between the two bus stops in Jalan Yong Shook Lin and Jalan Sultan. An additional bus stop at Jalan Yong Shook Lin will encourage more people to use the bus service. This includes those working at Menara PKNS, Wisma IJM and the various banks.”
She said MBPJ could also consider relocating the existing bus stop to the mid-portion of Jalan Yong Shook Lin, where a large number of office buildings were located.
Meanwhile, Nurul Hana Kamal, 29, urged the local council to emulate the local authorities in Japan, which provided bus stops every 200m to 300m along city roads.
“There are many things we can learn from the Japanese, particularly concerning public transport services.
“If the local council does not have enough funds to build bus stops, they can consider providing bus stops that do not have seats or roof, just like those in Tokyo, Japan.
“At least, commuters do not have to walk too far from the bus stop to their workplace, which can be difficult during rainy days and scorching hot afternoons,” she said.
