HUMBLE FUNG WANTS TO WIN MORE
Admits he’s the weakest link on Team Asia

MALAYSIA’S Nicholas Fung has admitted that he is the weakest link in the EurAsia Cup challenge on Jan 12-14 at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club.
The 27-year-old will make up a team of 13 men, captained by eight-time winner of the Asian Tour, Arjun Atwal.
The others in the team are Malaysia’s recently crowned Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Gavin Green, India’s S.S.P Chawrasia and Anirban Lahiri, Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai, Poon Saksansin and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Japan’s Yuta Ikeda and Hideto Tanihara, South Koreans Kang Sung-hoon and An Byeong-hun, and China’s Li Haotong.
“I’ve seen the line-up, both teams are strong but of course I am the weak one among them.
“But this is match-play, so who knows what can happen, plus the course suits me as well,” he said.
This will be Nicholas’ third outing since the tournament’s inauguration in 2014.
Last year he paired with another local professional, Danny Chia, in the four-ball and foursome competition where they recorded “halve” against Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark.
But in the singles match, Nicholas was beaten by Englishmen Lee Westwood, 7&6.
Among those selected by Team Europe captain Thomas Bjorn are Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Paul Casey, Ross Fisher, Matt Fitzpatrick, Thomas Pieters, and Henrik Stenson.
Nicholas wants to kick off his 2018 season with a blast by scoring a win.
“I gained a lot of experience on Tour winning an event (2017 Queen’s Cup).
“I’m going to keep playing and try to win more.
“For 2018, I will try to go more on the European Tour to boost my confidence level,” he said.
