PM BEGINS WORK VISIT BY MEETING SAUDI KING
Najib, King Salman discuss issues raised in the latter’s visit to Malaysia last year
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak kickedoff his five-day working visit to Saudi Arabia with a meeting with King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud yesterday.
The Prime Minister’s Office posted a picture of Najib having a discussion with the Saudi king and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Riyadh at 6pm yesterday.
“Had a very excellent meeting with His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,” Najib posted on his Twitter account following the meeting.
Najib said both leaders had the opportunity to exchange views, particularly on issues discussed and agreed upon during the historic state visit by King Salman to Malaysia last year.
“Thank you for the warm hospitality and strong friendship between two brotherly nations,” he said
The prime minister, who arrived on Monday evening, was greeted by Riyadh Governor Prince Faisal Bandar Al Saud at King Khalid International Airport.
Najib, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, is also scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Salman to discuss bilateral, multilateral, regional and international issues.
The meetings, Wisma Putra said, would cover follow-up action on issues discussed and agreed upon during the historic state visit by King Salman to Malaysia in March last year.
They included economic cooperation, investment, haj issues and the establishment of the King Salman Centre for International Peace in Putrajaya.
