AFL LOGISTICS AIMS FOR IPO NEXT YEAR

Asean firm will continue expanding to tap massive demand

- KUALA LUMPUR

AFL Logistics, a leading logistic company i n Asean, is growing to match the massive demand for a strong logistics network and e-commerce solutions.

Having built an extensive foundation for more than 30 years in 789 cities and 190 countries, AFL would continue its logistical innovations and expansions, and plans to launch an initial public offering next year.

AFL said Asean’s six largest economies have an estimated 283 million Internet users and over the next decade, the e-commerce market is expected to rise from US$10 billion to US$88 billion (RM353 billion).

Big e-commerce players have already expanded their operations or brought over other ecommerce companies in the region, it said, citing Amazon which has set up operations in Singapore.

“The explosion of the e-commerce market has also seen an overwhelming demand for logis- tics, so as to ensure smooth delivery of products to companies and consumers. Major logistics players like FedEx and DHL have had their stock prices skyrocketing,” it said.

Regionally, big firms like Alibaba have also invested heavily in logistics, with Alibaba investing US$15 billion over the next five years.

“Logistics plays a vital role in ecommerce in terms of cargo handling, customs processing, storage and freight transport of goods. Business owners today have to be familiar with logistics, especially in terms of back-end supply chain management for companies without a brick and mortar store to house their inventories.”

AFL has hubs in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

For over 30 years, it has built a strong network across 789 cities and 190 countries. As an official partner of JD.com, AFL is highly trusted and works with many top multinational companies, leading mobile brands and international market chains. With over 50,000kg of goods transported daily, AFL ensures world-class experiences for its clients with its global reach and capabilities while lowering operating costs through technological innovations such as its use of intelligent warehouses employing the German SwissLog system.

AFL is highly recognised in the region and is the project manager for an eFulfillment Hub and Halal Certification Centre in Free Trade Zone Brunei.
