PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday launched Tabung Haji (TH) logos, to be placed on four accommodation blocks for Malaysian pilgrims in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The TH logo placement follows a 10-year collateral leasing agreement with Al Rawda Investment for Real Estate Development and Project Management Ltd.

In his speech, TH chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the long-term leasing agreement would have a positive effect on TH’s haj management programmes.

“This deal will control the impact of the increase in cost of accommodation for pilgrims,” said Azeez.

Najib also visited the premises to look at the rooms on offer and was satisfied with the level of service offered to Malaysian pilgrims.

Present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, TH group executive director Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah and Al Rawda Investment for Real Estate Development and Project Management Ltd chairman Dr Mashhoor Ali Al Madodi.

In a related development, Najib and his family visited the Raudhah and Prophet Muhammad’s resting place after performing Isyak prayers at Nabawi Mosque in Madinah, on the sidelines of his five-day working visit to Saudi Arabia.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), last night my family and I visited the Raudhah and Prophet Muhammad’s resting place after Isya’ at the Nabawi Mosque,” Najib posted on his Twitter account yesterday.

He said the visit was made after Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud granted special permission to the family to enter the sacred sites.

“King Salman had given permission to me and family, including mother, to enter the Prophet’s resting place,” Najib tweeted.

The prime minister, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, their children, grandchildren, his mother Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah, in-laws and his brothers Datuk Nizam Razak and Datuk Nazim Razak visited the sacred sites.

“We are grateful to have entered Prophet Muhammad’s resting place as it is an honour given only to special guests of the Saudi Arabian government, which not many receive,” he said.
