TWO men, aged 19 and 23, will be charged at the magistrate’s court here today with murdering a 44year-old man, believed to be a gang leader, at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi, Johor Baru, last month.

Both had criminal records.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the Attorney-General’s

Chambers had decided to prosecute the suspects.

“Although only two suspects will be charged tomorrow (today), we are keeping the case open as we believe there are nine others involved in the case.”

Khalil said the nine suspects were aged between 21 and 40 and that police would not rest until all were brought to justice as the crime was heinous and vicious.

He was speaking to the media after visiting the police headquarters here.

He added that police believed the nine suspects were hiding in the country and all efforts were being made to track them.

Previously, 15 individuals were detained to facilitate police investigations, of whom 13 had been released. The case became viral on the Internet after the incident was captured on video.

The video footage showed the victim in a scuffle with four men, who tried to force him into a white BMW.

The incident took place when the victim made a stop at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi.

The victim’s wife, a Vietnamese woman in her 20s, was inside the car at the time of attack.

She jumped out and ran away when the fight between her husband and the four attackers escalated.

One of the suspects stabbed the victim, who was also run over by the suspects’ BMW twice as they made their escape.
