Potholes bane of BU folk
PETALING JAYA: A frustrated motorist called Actionline to complain about uneven road and potholes in Bandar Utama.
Akmar said he almost got into a few accidents while plying Persiaran Bandar Utama, and the junction between Persiaran Bandar Utama and Lebuh Bandar Utama.
“There are several potholes along the road and a stretch of the road is uneven, which is dangerous to road users,” he said.
He said the situation worsened during peak hours as some of the vehicles sped without any concern for other motorists.
Checks by Actionline found that motorists plying the road tend to speed.
A driver, who wanted to be known only as Lim, said he had to check his car alignment every month.
“I use that road to go to work. Due to the uneven road condition, I have to spend extra cash to fix my car.”
ACTIONLINE:
A Petaling Jaya City Council spokesman said the road belonged to the Bandar Utama Development.
However, the developer told Actionline they hoped motorists would put up with the road condition for the next few months.
“We have received numerous complaints from residents as well as motorists in this area,” he said.
He said the ongoing construction in that area was the cause of the potholes and uneven road surfaces.
“We are waiting for the elevated highway construction to be completed in a few months and we will resurface the road once the construction works are completed.”
He said the developer apologised for the inconvenience and would resolve the issue as soon as possible.
