Give me time to warm up, says Ajak

- By Tahir Alhamzah

LAST Sunday was his debut as the new co-host for TV3’s popular entertainment show, Melodi, alongside actress Janna Nick.

However, some viewers thought he was a little stiff and awkward while hosting the show.

Comedian, radio announcer and TV host Mohd Hanaffi Razak, a.k.a. Ajak, does not mind when people call him wooden. He accepts it.

“I take note. I welcome criticism but it must be presented constructively. It pushes me to improve.

“But some comments that I’ve received were a little malicious and downright condescending,” said the 32-year-old artiste at the Bintang Bersama Bintang 2018 press conference at Damansara Performing Arts Centre in Petaling Jaya recently.

Ajak said it would be unfair for the audience to compare his first hosting stint on Melodi to the show’s previous co-host, Awal Ashaari, who had helmed the show for the past six years.

“Give us some time to ‘warm up’ a little and get used to the work processes on Melodi. Even when jogging one needs to warm up first.”

Ajak is one of the six contestants for the TV station’s new reality comedy programme, Bintang Bersama Bintang 2018 (BBB2018). In BBB2018, it will be a battle among established comedians Abam, Achey, Issey, Mark Adam and Shuk.

Ajak is thankful for being blessed with several job offers which keep him busy.

“At a time when there is a surge of new talents in the entertainment industry, artistes have to be able to learn new skills to keep ourselves seen and heard, to ensure our survival.

“Being live on air for six days (hosting HotFM’s morning show on weekdays), as co-host on Melodi and now BBB2018 on Sundays, I hope no one will get tired of me,” he said jokingly.
