Team Zuhal refuse to throw in the towel
TWO last place finishes on the second day of the Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) have not broken the spirits of Team Zuhal.
In the two races, the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces team faced stiff competition from 2016 champions, Alive who had earlier experienced technical difficulties.
However, the increasingly better understanding between the crew has convinced Zuhal captain Hairolnizam Hat that their team have what it takes to finish on the podium, as how they did on the first day of competition yesterday.
“Competition is tight in the cluster of four teams competing in this Racing class,” said Hairolnizam.
“Whatever it is, Team Zuhal are showing improvement. The crew have a much better understanding with one another and they did try to do their best today.
“The winds were much better compared to yesterday and we hope tomorrow (Thursday) will be as good as today.”
For the 16th edition, Zuhal have a new crew, and Hairolnizam commented: “There is already good understanding, and for tomorrow we will step it up a notch and work towards a podium finish.”
After three races, Zuhal are fourth overall, on 11 points with Alive, while defending champions THA72 led the Racing class by three points. Saturn’s sister team, Uranus are in second place with six points. Team Zuhal refuse to throw in the towel. Sukhairi Thani
