Ti: Dr Mahathir, Kit Siang and Anwar like Three Stooges

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leaders are behaving like the once popular comedy act The Three Stooges, particularly following their grand reconciliation.

In a statement yesterday, MCA publicity spokesman and religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said the serious business of state and politics had become a joke akin to the slapstick comedy of The Three Stooges, which featured characters Moe, Larry and Curly.

“Psychologically, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is well known for his super ego, cruelty and brutality, resembles the character Moe.

“Lim Kit Siang is egoistic and a Moe wannabe, but he often failed (resembling Larry), while Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is seen to be more friendly, affable and amicable like Curly.”

He said Dr Mahathir was once labelled “Maha Zalim” (cruel one) due to his cruel and brutal character, while Lim was detained several times and insulted by Dr Mahathir, including being called a communist, dictator and anti-national element.

He said Anwar, on the other hand, not only faced humiliation, but also had his reputation damaged when he was sacked as deputy prime minister and accused of sodomy and sexual misconduct.

“They have been at each other’s throats and going after each other’s blood for decades. Suddenly, they kiss and make up as if nothing happened.

“This seems to be so hilarious and sounds like another slapstick comedy.

“As a political observer who is concerned about the country, and who had followed their series of political drama, I am suddenly confused and dazed.”

He urged the people to question if they could count on opposition leaders for guidance and leadership for the nation’s future.

“They are no longer insulting, humiliating or hurting one another but the entire nation with their political slapstick comedies. It is not funny any more when they are now ridiculing our minds, intellect and sentiments.

“From heroes to stooges?”
