Police to submit probe papers on Felda land deal to AG’s Chambers next week.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will submit investigation papers on Federal Land Development Authority’s (Felda) Jalan Semarak deal to the Attorney-General’s Chambers by the end of next week.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said investigation was ongoing and officers were working diligently to wrap up the probe.

Fuzi declined to reveal how many witnesses had been called to have their statements taken.

“We will submit the investigation paper, but that is subject to the progress of the investigation,” he said after the launch of Aseanapol Secretariat’s new office at Bank Rakyat Twin Towers here yesterday.

Police recorded former Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad’s statement earlier this month to assist the probe.

It is learnt that police had recorded statements from at least nine people, including members of the Felda board of directors and developer Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB).

Berita Harian, in an exclusive report last month, broke the news that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of the piece of land worth more than RM200 million in what had been described as a “dubious deal” in 2015.

The land, earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City development project, will feature seven towers, including Felda’s iconic tower, to be known as KLVC Tower 1A.

The ownership transfer of the land took place when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd appointed SPSB as its main developer on June 3, 2014, and it was granted full power of attorney to develop the land.

Earlier, Fuzi witnessed the handover of duties between outgoing Aseanapol executive director Inspector-General Yohanes Agus Mulyonon and Colonel Kenechanh Phommachack.

Fuzi said police were working to extradite a suspected Malaysian militant who was arrested at the Karachi airport in Pakistan.

“We have contacted our Pakistani counterparts to have the suspect deported, but have not received a solid response.

“The progress is slow, but we’ll wait,” he said, adding that the suspect had Islamic State links.
