Najib: BN the best choice

We have built a country that is peaceful, stable and safe, says PM

THE Barisan chairman says the coalition has built a peaceful and stable nation on the back of progressive policies.

BN, he adds, has a proven track record, unlike the opposition, an 'untested coalition' wary of each other.

KUALA LUMPUR

THE people must have the political consciousness to know that Barisan Nasional is the best choice to lead the nation now and in the future, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said BN had strived to a build a future to fulfil the people’s aspirations and had a proven track record, unlike the opposition, which was an “untested coalition” and its parties were wary of each other.

“We have built a nation that is peaceful and stable, with the people free from threats.

“We have brought a lot of development, as well as a national transformation agenda,” he said when launching the Puteri Barisan National Friends Network, known as “Azalea 2018”, here yesterday.

Azalea aims to forge solidarity among the women’s wing of Umno, BN component parties, nongovernmental organisations, university students and young women to boost support for BN.

Present were the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein amd Puteri Umno chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

He said the BN leadership would work hard to give Malaysia a brighter future via the Transformasi Nasional 2050 vision, as well as make the country among the top 20 nations in the world.

“I want to ask, if this is our aspiration, can a 93-year-old man take us there? That is the question. We can answer that ourselves,” he said, alluding to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is leading the opposition.

Najib rallied the Puteri BN network to appreciate the spirit of the azalea flower, which would bring together the young women wings in BN parties under one banner.

He said “Azalea” was derived from the flower to symbolise majestic beauty and grace.

“It symbolises unity, as there are more than 10,000 variations of this flower, which all come under one name: azalea.

“The same goes for Puteri BN, whose members are from different parties and backgrounds, but are united under one banner towards a common goal.”

While addressing a crowd of more than 10,000 people comprising BN young women wings and NGOs, he urged the Puteri network to work under one banner.

“You should all embrace the spirit and work together as a team, not in silos. It should be an enjoyable experience. When you are enjoying yourselves, the heavy task will not seem like a burden and will be less stressful.”

Mas Ermieyati said Azalea 2018 would see the movement working towards the common goal of ensuring victory for BN in the general election.

“Many areas need to be addressed with proper strategies, which is why since the beginning, we have engaged with all Puteri wings of BN parties.

“Under Azalea 2018, efforts will be synergised to show the people that this coalition is united and has a plan, unlike the opposition, which is power-crazy and in disarray.”
