Umno, MCA to run 8 polling centres in Indera Mahkota

-

KUANTAN: Eight Indera Mahkota parliamentary district polling centres (PDM) will be jointlymanaged by Umno and MCA.

Indera Mahkota Umno chief Datuk Mustaffar Kamal Abdul Hamid said the decision was made in a meeting involving all Indera Mahkota Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders last week.

“Last week’s meeting went smoothly, and all BN component party leaders in Indera Mahkota (responded positively to the move).

“We agreed to appoint Umno representatives at the eight PDMs, which were previously headed by MCA leaders.

“The decision (to appoint Umno representatives) was well received by all. We will decide on the representatives at Monday’s (Jan 22) meeting,” Mustaffar said at an event at Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (Polisas) in Kampung Balok Baru here yesterday.

Present were Polisas director Norlida Abd Razak and Kampung Balok Village Development and Security Committee chairman Mansor Mokhtar.

The programme is a joint effort between Polisas, the Prime Minister’s Office Implementation Coordination Unit and the Higher Education Ministry.

It focuses on creating positive social impact through students sharing their expertise and experiences.

Fifty-six residents from the Kuantan and Indera Mahkota parliamentary constituencies were involved in the two phase programme, which began last year.

Mustaffar said from next month, training would be given to those tasked with handling the Indera Mahkota PDMs.
