Raja Afiq angry over misleading caption

-

FOLLOWING a news report that some 300 artistes had to turn to loan sharks due to job cuts, actor Raja Afiq discovered that a blog had been using his photo with a misleading caption.

“I am not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but to use a picture of me like that (with a black strip covering the eyes), and a misleading caption (on its Facebook posting) is unacceptable,” said the artiste, 23, whose full name is Raja Muhammad Afiq Raja Razali.

He told the New Straits Times yesterday that while the article said he was a good example of an artiste who looked for alternative income when there were few acting offers, Raja Afiq was furious at the usage of his “manipulated” picture.

“Sometimes, Netizens do not read much further than the headline, and the image and caption that comes with it.

“Sensationalising a story with a picture of an innocent person can lead to a libel suit.

“When there were rumours about me, I would just ignore them, but this time, I see the need to come out and put things in perspective.”

Raja Afiq was caught in a controversial love affair last year.

On whether he would take action against the blog, the star of TV3’s drama series Lelaki Itu Pemilik Hatiku said he would let this matter slide, but there would be no more “Mr Nice Guy” should a false representation of him be made in future.

When not acting, Raja Afiq sells roti jala and brownies online.

“Acting offers do not come easily now. To ensure I put food on the table, I need to work. That is when I started this small food business. Sometimes, I get invited to open a booth at bazaars. It is not as glamourous as acting, but it pays the bills.” By Tahir Alhamzah
